Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 403 1892 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $525.00 - or slightly better. A nice, lustrous and pleasantly toned example of the first year of issue of the Barber type. 404 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,000.00 A lovely Gem specimen with frosty central devices and bright fields. The obverse is nicely toned in pale golden brown with a touch of blue on the rims. Only 792 Proofs were struck of this date. 405 1894 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,100.00 Nearly a Gem but for a single obverse facial hairline. The obverse is deeply toned in gold and iridescent blue while the back is largely untoned and frosty. Only 972 Proofs were struck. 406 1895 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $850.00 A nice coin with definite claims to Gem status. The piece is deeply toned on the front in gray and blue on the rims, brighter on the back. The obverse fields are full mirrors and the devices are frosty. The reverse fields are a trifle cloudy. Only 880 Proofs were struck. 407 1896 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $850.00 A pleasing coin that is Gem at first glance with nice color and sharp mirror fields. Close inspection reveals some inconspicuous slide marks on Liberty's cheek. Only 762 Proofs were struck. 408 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,900.00 The central devices are frosty and the fields are nice mirrors. The toning is a bit uneven and there is some cloudy effect in the fields. Only 731 Proofs were struck. 409 1898 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $5,500.00 A lovely example, with bright centers, rich iridescent blue on the obverse rim, pale gold on the reverse rim. The fields are full mirrors and the central devices are frosty. This is a very pretty coin. Only 735 Proofs were struck. 410 1899 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,200.00 Like the last, the obverse nicely toned in gold and blue, the reverse bright white. Frosty central devices stand out nicely against bright mirror fields. Only 846 Proofs were struck. 411 1900 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,000.00 Absolutely marvelous quality for one of these. The front is deeply toned in blue, gold and gray while the back is bright and untoned. The eagle is frosty and looks cameo-like against the mirror fields. Liberty's head is also frosty and has a lovely cameo-like effect against the toned field. A wonderful coin destined for a high grade collection. Only 912 Proofs were struck. 412 1901 CH AU $160.00 Choice About Uncirculated in terms of wear but displaying a gash at the trunk of the neck. The toning is iridescent blue and gold on the obverse while the reverse has pale gold; 1903 About Uncirculated but has been lightly cleaned with the obverse retoning a pale rose-gold and blue and the reverse mostly untoned. 2 pieces. 413 1902 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $120.00 Deep rose-gold and blue obverse give way to a sparkling reverse. The strike is adequate and the lustre is decent. 414 1904 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $500.00 - and very close to the Choice category. Attractively toned with gold surrounded by electric blue at the border on the obverse, the reverse is satiny. 415 1905 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $500.00 Pale gray and gold toning on the obverse, lighter color on the back. The fields are brightly reflective. Only 727 Proofs were struck. 416 1906 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,000.00 The obverse is deep gray and gold while the reverse is nearly white. There are some well concealed obverse slide marks that are all that keep this from Gem status. Only 675 Proofs were struck. 417 1907 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,750.00 Very pretty pale golden toning characterizes the obverse of this piece, while the back is brighter with touches of pale gold at left and right. The fields are full mirrors and the piece is quite attractive. Only 575 Proofs were struck. 418 1908 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $750.00 A simply outstanding example of this issue which is becoming harder to find so nice all the time. This piece is toned in pale gold over fully frosty fields. 419 1909 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $4,000.00 A lovely, fully struck specimen with great detail and beautiful, rich iridescent purple and gold toning on the obverse. Full lustre cartwheels can be seen on both sides. 420 1910 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $4,250.00 Another Gem specimen, this piece very well toned on the front in pale mauve and gold, the reverse being brighter with just a touch of pale gold. Full mint lustre can be seen on both sides making unbroken cartwheels in the fields. A coin with superb visual appeal. 421 1911 AU $100.00 About Uncirculated in terms of wear. Pale gold and gray toning over lightly cleaned surfaces; 1915 About Uncirculated, and near-Mint State in terms of wear. Gray and gold toning over heavily abraded surfaces. 2 pieces. 422 1912 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,500.00 Another superb Proof issue, this one brilliantly toned on the front in tones of purple and gold. The reverse is lighter silver in color with traces of palest gold. The fields are full mirrors and the central devices are frosty. Only 705 Proofs were struck. 423 1913 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,500.00 A glorious specimen toned on the obverse in magnificent iridescent purple and blue shades. The reverse is touched with a pale gold and some blue on the rim. The fields are bright mirrors and the devices are pleasantly frosty. Only 893 Proofs were struck. 424 1914 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $250.00 - nearly Choice. An attractive blend of rose-gold, sea-green and iridescent blue on the obverse with the reverse mainly untoned and quite lustrous. A handsome example of this late date. 425 1916 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $750.00 A wonderful example of the final year of issue of the type. This specimen is toned on the obverse in pale gold. The mint lustre covers both sides in a pillowy fashion. Very attractive, with just a few minor marks on this highly enticing coin.
