This distinctive variety shows '1' and '6' touching curl and truncation, while '25' and 'C' are free of arrows, tail and olive branch on this reverse. Here is a wonderfully toned coin featuring emerald, electric blue, rose and orange toning and a hint of prooflike flash. An unfortunate, isolated, severe scrape has shaved the rims around 12:00 on the obverse and serves to hallmark this piece. A desirable type coin. 2614 1859'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $4,100.00 Impressive silvery white surfaces surround boldly defined central devices. Close examination reveals razor sharp details. A satiny patina creates lovely eye appeal. Here is a wonderful specimen of this condition scarcity that is commonly available in the circulated grades but that becomes quite difficult to find in the upper grade echelons. NGC MS64. 2615 1873 Arrows. Brilliant Proof BR PF $275.00 - with claims to Choice. Blindingly reflective fields surround lightly frosted, creamy white devices. Here is an appealing looking specimen of the scarcer issue of a two-year, widely collected type. Just 540 Proofs were struck of this date. 2616 1873 Arrows. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $600.00 An attractive coin that is toned a golden-gray color. A crisp strike adds to the appearance. 2617 1874'S' Arrows. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,350.00 Pale silver-gray surfaces are engulfed in frosty lustre. A powerful strike is exemplified by the needle sharp details. 2618 1877'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $300.00 Crisply struck design motifs are encircled by fields that are quite flashy in their lustre. Light rose-gold toning lends an added appeal to this San Francisco mint issue. 2619 1884 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,200.00 A wonderfully reflective jewel with watery fields that contrast against frosty devices. Seated Liberty is fully white as is most of the eagle at the reverse. The perimeters of this flashy specimen are ringed in lovely blue and magenta hues. A real beauty that approaches the Gem category. This date is always in demand due to the low mintage of business strikes. NGC PF64. 2620 1884 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $650.00 A second. Colorful bands of iridescent silver, blue and russet halo this example of a Proof mintage of 875 pieces. A glass catches a scattering of hairlines but the overall beauty is great. 2621 1886 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,000.00 Glowing silver obverse shows a tantalizing wisp of gold. The gorgeously toned reverse offers lovely rose, lilac and pale iridescent blue for overwhelming beauty. One of 886 Proofs struck. 2622 1887 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,700.00 The glass-smooth obverse field offers rose and iridescent blue. The altogether stunning reverse is drowned in deep magenta-red, fringed in iridescent blue of unusual richness. One of only 710 Proofs struck. 2623 1888 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,700.00 Rich tobacco-gold forms a colorful halo around both sides of this glass-mirror coin, one of 832 Proofs struck and certainly among the finest known to today's numismatists. 2624 1889 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,000.00 Liquid-glass fields and delicately frosted devices share the most delicate clear rose toning for breath-taking beauty and powerful visual appeal. One of 711 struck. 2625 1889 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $725.00 A second. Beautiful cameo contrast exists between frosted devices and mirrorlike fields on this survivor of just 711 Proofs struck of this date. Reverse is nearly Gem on this watery-looking specimen. Barber Quarters Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 2626 1895 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $100.00 - or better. Here is bright white coin that is bathed in frosty lustre. A small and unusual die break is found at Liberty's cap, adding to the intrigue of this attractive specimen. 2627 1896 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,500.00 Startling silver-white devices are thrust forward by deep old-gold congregating at the peripheries. One of 762 Proofs struck and a certainly breath-taking beauty of the early Barber dates. 2628 1896 Repunched Date. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $160.00 A lovely pale gray example that shows a good deal of satiny mint bloom. A streak of neon blue and carbon gray toning is found on the reverse beginning at the second 'L' in DOLLAR and running diagonally across the shield. 2629 1897'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $550.00 This glittering example shows a strong strike. This coin underwent a light cleaning in the past but is currently retoning nicely. The central obverse is flashy white and is ringed by lovely russet tones near the rims. The reverse is pale gold with some carbon gray toning clinging to the lower devices. 2630 1899 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,800.00 Flashy reflective surfaces and crisp details give this example great appeal. This specimen is a deep lavender gray color with some lighter spots near the date and base of the neck. 2631 1900 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $300.00 Deep ebony and tan-gold overlie the deepest glass-mirror surfaces of this glittering, high quality example of 912 Proofs struck. Here is an outstanding end-of-century Proof. 2632 1904 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $850.00 A lovely pale gray coin with a faint wisp of lilac toning across the lower obverse. This example has needle sharp details and is extremely lustrous. 2633 1905'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $7,500.00 This attractive coin is a slightly mottled pale lavender gray. Satiny mint lustre is found throughout. 2634 1906 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,250.00 Forthright salmon and iridescent blue cover the deeply glittering surfaces of this spectacular Gem. One of 675 Proofs struck, and undoubtedly one of the finest existing nearly a century later. 2635 1907 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,600.00 Dramatic rose-pink devices contrast with deep iridescent blue on both glittering sides of this essentially pristine example of a Proof mintage of only 575. Finding this coin's equal today could prove to be a herculean task. 2636 1908 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $850.00 A beautiful coin with smooth, mirrored fields. Pale blues and magenta can be found at the obverse, the reverse is pale silver with some carbon-gray tones in the protected areas. The crisp is meticulous, as should be expected from a Proof. The second lowest mintage of any Proof Barber Quarter with a Proof output of only 545 coins. 2637 1908'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $850.00 - on the cusp of full Gem. A delightful New Orleans strike is emphasized by rich tobacco gold hugging the outer rims and accentuating the bold reliefs. 2638 1910 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $650.00 Mirrored fields surround the frosted central device creating a lovely cameo effect. Handsome golden toning creates pleasing eye appeal. 2639 1910 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,200.00 A second. Iridescent gray toning enhances fully mirrored fields. The central device is quite bold as is the Eagle on the reverse. 2640 1910 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $275.00 Mottled deep russet and gold toning over well struck surfaces.
