Extremely Fine. A most attractive example of this first year of issue. An abundance of detail remains on this mostly medium gray coin that displays glowing iridescent rose and gold around the protected areas of the devices and legends. An old obverse dig should be noted at the top of the head, but this does not detract from this coin's overall bold appeal.

- with claims to Choice. A splendid, well centered strike boasts remarkably complete detail. Bold flashing silver bears a wisp of clearest peripheral gold to showcase the crisply struck stars, lettering and clouds over the eagle. High magnification reveals a faint field mark to the right of the bust, but this remarkable coin is well positioned in any listing of finest known examples of...  more

A lovely specimen of this early date. Both sides have attractive, original toning. The obverse and reverse show pale russet and iridescent rose and green over nice, deep gray surfaces. - with strong claims to the Choice classification. Delightfully complete silver lustre saturates both sides, highlighted by clear gold toning of the greatest delicacy. Bold die clash adds dimension to this frosty obverse. Early U.S. Dimes stated that MS-63 was the finest known, making this conservatively graded example a close runner-up. NGC MS62.

About Uncirculated. Another pleasing example of this only variety for the date. This issue is generally found weakly struck, but this coin is certainly an exception to the rule. The dentils are visible on over 3/4 of the coins rims, evidence of the better than average strike. The obverse is steel gray at the center with lovely electric blue and sea green hues ringing the peripheries....  more

- with strong claims to a slightly higher grade, bordering on Choice. Both sides are originally toned in medium silver gray shades, the front being slightly deeper in tone than the back. Choice About Uncirculated, virtually Mint State. Radiant mint frost is that of a Choice Uncirculated coin, while there is a just a touch of wear at the very highest points of the design motifs. Glowing rose-gold iridescence bathes medium silver-gray surfaces. Overdate is boldly visible under low magnification on this high grade survivor that is actually finer than all specimens reported...  more

A deeply toned example that has a pleasing blend of iridescent blue and gold toning. Well struck and quite nice for the grade.

A most pleasing example of this issue that is hard to locate in this high state of preservation. The obverse is quite definitive and enhanced with attractive golden toning. Easily About Uncirculated or better from the standpoint of wear. A delicately toned obverse offers sharp detail complemented by plenty of frosty mint lustre. The reverse still retains its fair share of definition, however the surfaces are rather rough. The reeding, likewise, is weak at isolated areas along the edge. A very rare date in any condition and particularly elusive at the grade...  more
