Lustrous dark gray with hints of golden toning around obverse devices and some more on the reverse. Good cartwheel lustre on the reverse, somewhat reflective in the fields. An attractive piece with no major marks and just a bit of friction on the highest points. A desirable example of this first year of the type.
5191 1831 LM-7, V-3. Rarity-2. MS-63 (PCGS) (see below) $825.00
1831 LM-7, V-3. Rarity-2. MS-63 (PCGS). Brilliant silver gray with some hints of toning around obverse...
Brilliant silver gray with some hints of toning around obverse periphery. Some lustre and lively field reflectivity remain, scattered hairlines and abrasions in the fields, very sharply struck on both sides. A spot above star 1 is noted.
5192 1832 LM-12, V-2. Rarity-2. MS-65 (NGC) (see below) $2,300.00
1832 LM-12, V-2. Rarity-2. MS-65 (NGC). Frosty lustre covers silver gray surfaces. Gray and gold toning...
Frosty lustre covers silver gray surfaces. Gray and gold toning frames the obverse while the reverse periphery shows deeper toning of olive and gold. Nicely struck, some tiny contact marks and scattered hairlines, late die state with die chip filling the bottom half of the 8 in the date, an attractive coin overall.
5193 1836 LM-3, V-4. Rarity-1. Large 5C. MS-66 (PCGS) (see below) $3,200.00
1836 LM-3, V-4. Rarity-1. Large 5C. MS-66 (PCGS). Magnificent frosty cartwheel lustre on both sides...
Magnificent frosty cartwheel lustre on both sides enlivens pearlescent gray surfaces and golden peripheries. The reverse is more evenly covered in olive and golden toning. Pristine surfaces, a bit softly struck on Liberty's face but truly lovely in visual appeal. A great-looking type coin that deserves strong consideration.
