Choice AU (see below) $180.00 A minor corner fold is noted and the corners are a little soft but the note is pleasing and nicely printed. Boldly signed by Robert Tuckniss and Robert Roberts, Jr. 5002 May 10, 1775. $6. Serial: 6149. Uncirculated, and nearly choice (see below) $300.00 Boldly and darkly printed. Crisp, nicely centered on the face and typical on the back. The bottom edge is unevenly trimmed, as originally cut from the sheet. Signed by Anthony Morris, Jr. 5003 May 10, 1775. $6. Serial: 33161. AU (see below) $160.00 - with a couple of paper thins, one of which is right at the edge and associated with a short split. Slightly faded but legible signatures of Isaac Hazelhurst and Judah Foulke. 5004 May 10, 1775. $8. Serial: 19034. Uncirculated (see below) $260.00 A clean and very crisp note with bold signatures of William Jackson, who signed only this series, and Andrew Bunner. A small ink spot is noted at DOLLARS, as made and quite trivial. A nicely printed note. 5005 May 10, 1775. $30. Serial: 31087. Uncirculated (see below) $600.00 - and very choice. The corners have slight softness, but the paper is bright, crisp and clean. Nicely centered on the face and slightly off on the back, as commonly seen. Well printed and boldly signed by Tuckniss and Roberts. An attractive example of the highest denomination of the series. 5006 November 29, 1775. $3. Serial: 49387. AU (see below) $220.00 - or nearly so and nicely centered. Nicely signed by Thomas Coombe and Samuel Morris. 5007 November 29, 1775. $4. Serial: 31638. Uncirculated (see below) $320.00 - and close to choice for the grade. Nicely centered, well margined for the issue, bright and clean. A crisp and very attractive note with sharp signatures of Anthony Morris, Jr. and Frederick Kuhl. 5008 November 29, 1775. Trio of counterfeit detectors. $4, $5, $6. Grades range from (see below) $600.00 VF to AU, or so with some chipping from the edges and light foxing. Printed on thin, tinted paper as usual. (Total: 3 pieces) 5009 November 29, 1775. $5. Serial: Unknown. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $160.00 Nicely centered, generally clean and attractive. Slight corner bumps noted. Boldly signed by Benjamin Fuller, but the second signature and serial number have both faded beyond recognition. 5010 November 29, 1775. $6. Serial: 40751. Choice EF (see below) $200.00 - with only a single sharp crease through the center and a slightly soft corner. Clear signatures of Samuel Morris and John Bayard, who was a member of the Continental Congress. 5011 November 29, 1775. $7. Serial: 11917. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $320.00 Very crisp, boldly printed and nicely embossed as a result. A lovely example with good face margins and strong signatures of Stephen Collins and Samuel C. Morris. A faint trace of an old corner mount is noted on the back, though trivial in nature. 5012 November 29, 1775. $8. Serial: 47529. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $360.00 - though with small corner bends and unevenly cut left end. Nicely printed and with good color. Sharply signed by John Bayard and Samuel Morris. 5013 February 17, 1776. $1/6. Serial: 357308. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $1,000.00 A bright, clean note with considerable freshness and only a couple of faint foxing spots on the face. The design borders are complete, though the lower right side is trimmed very tight on the face. A truly lovely example of this popular Fugio design, with a bold signature of Benjamin Brannan in red ink. Off the market for decades and worthy of placement in a fine collection of Continental...  more 5014 February 17, 1776. Pair of Fugio notes: (see below) $600.00 * $1/6. Serial: 227327. EF, with bold signature of William Sellers in red ink. Somewhat erratically trimmed at lower right * $1/3. Serial: 288917. AU, but a little soiled. Nicely centered and margined on both sides. Signed by Thomas Donnellan. An attractive pair of this popular issue. (Total: 2 pieces) 5015 February 17, 1776. $1/3. Serial: 408634. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $1,800.00 - and very nearly a full Gem but for unevenly trimmed margins. Still, the design borders are complete and in general the margins are broader than typically seen. The paper is quite bright and fresh and the note is boldly printed and embossed. A faint corner bend is noted in the wide upper left margin, but this does not affect the design. Signed by Thomas Donnellan. A superior example. 5016 February 17, 1776. $1/2. Serial: 414146. Choice AU (see below) $800.00 - with only a faint central fold and a central pinhole disrupting the paper quality. Ink blots are noted at the signature of John Sellers, but the signature is bold and legible. Nicely printed and evenly margined on the face, while the back is only slightly off center. 5017 February 17, 1776. $1/2. Serial: 439023. Uncirculated (see below) $550.00 - but the paper has a dusty and aged appearance and the corners are a little soft. Reasonably well centered for the issue. Signed by Horatio Johnson. 5018 February 17, 1776. $2/3. Serial: 47445. AU (see below) $550.00 - and well centered with nice margins all around. One corner slightly round. Signed by William Aisquith. 5019 February 17, 1776. $1. Serial: 75170. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $1,000.00 - and nearly full Gem quality save for a small handling fold running parallel to the top right edge and confined to the margin. A very fresh and attractive note, with a broad left end margin and with complete design borders all around. Boldly printed, with bright and clearly legible signatures of Israel Whelen and Benjamin Jacobs. A superior example, and likely among the finest known....  more 5020 February 17, 1776. $2. Serial: 66204. Uncirculated (see below) $300.00 Paper slightly aged, but very crisp and clean otherwise. Edges are erratically trimmed, but they only just touch the design border at the upper left corner of the face. Though the edges are uneven, the note is nicely centered with good margins except where noted. Bold signatures of Nathan Sellers and George Gray, Jr. 5021 February 17, 1776. (Total: 2 pieces) 5022 February 17, 1776. $3. Serial: 2480. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $750.00 - or nearly so, with four tiny pinholes at the upper center. Nicely centered and well margined. Evenly and sharply printed. Signed by George Campbell and David Clymer. 5023 February 17, 1776. $4. Serial: 43707. Uncirculated (see below) $240.00 Bright and clean, with light ink marks on the back, transferred from the fresh signatures on another note. A small nick is also noted at the upper right. Nicely centered and attractive. Signatures of Thomas Coombe and Samuel Morris. 5024 February 17, 1776. $6. Serial: 46718. Gem Uncirculated (see below) $750.00 Bright, clean paper and very crisp. An exceptional note, boldly and evenly printed on both sides and likewise well centered and evenly margined. The serial number is soft, but legible, while the signatures of Tench Tilghman and James Milligan are clear. 5025 February 17, 1776. $7. Serial: 24349. Uncirculated (see below) $375.00 Two light corner bends, but decent centering and margins. Clear signatures of Nicholas Garrison and Joseph Watkins. 5026 May 9, 1776. $2. Serial: 4042. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $700.00 Unevenly trimmed at right, but still with nice centering and margins all around. A minor foxing spot is noted on the back, but the signatures of John Sellers and John Howard are clear. An attractive note with a few heavy security threads. 5027 May 9, 1776. $4. Serial: 15602. Choice AU (see below) $550.00 Generally finer, but with a light bend along the right end. Crisp and bold otherwise with good signatures of James Johnston and John Shaw, Jr. 5028 May 9, 1776. $5. Serial: 100652. Choice AU (see below) $450.00 Corners somewhat soft, but clean and nicely printed. Good signatures of John Howard and Thomas Leech. 5029 May 9, 1776. $6. Serial: 105970. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $700.00 The only imperfection worthy of note is that the right end is trimmed slightly into the design border. Otherwise, the note is bright, fresh, very crisp and well centered. It is boldly printed on both sides and in this respect it is about as fine as is ever seen. Boldly signed by Nicholas Garrison and John Howard. 5030 May 9, 1776. $6. Serial: 105995. Choice Uncirculated (see below) $700.00 - and close in serial number as well as quality to the note offered above. Bold and evenly printed, though the left and right margins are tightly trimmed.
