Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 2575 1851 CH VF $240.00 Choice Very Fine. Rich honey-gold toning gives this coin a very distinguished appearance. A tiny scratch at the top of the crown and a couple of toning spots on the reverse; 1853 Very Fine. Pale yellow-gold toning over weakly struck surfaces. Some signs of an ancient cleaning. 2 pieces. 2576 1851 VF $90.00 Very Fine. A lemon yellow coin with several scattered contact marks. 2577 1851'C' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $2,400.00 This pale yellow gold example displays needle sharp details from a bold striking. Light scattered marks can be located but do little to infringe on the pleasing look of this lustrous piece. Most survivors of this low mintage of 41,267 pieces are not nearly as attractive as this example. A pleasing coin from the avidly collected Charlotte Mint. 2578 1851'D' VF $350.00 Very Fine in terms of detail. Cleaned, holed and rather crudely plugged at 6:00. The central reverse also shows evidence of repair, as does the edge at 12:00. Though this coin clearly has its problems, it remains quite scarce as only 9,882 were minted. 2579 1851'O' VF $260.00 Very Fine. A mustard yellow coin with evenly granular surfaces. 2580 1852 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $130.00 This rich honey gold example is drenched in satiny lustre. A few scattered rim tics are not obtrusive. 2581 1852 AU $100.00 About Uncirculated in terms of wear but the lightly granular surfaces have been lightly wiped. A nick in front of the face. 2582 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $265.00 - nearly a Choice specimen. Well struck and quite appealing. This vibrant orange-golden coin features a full measure of icy mint frost on either side. NGC MS62. 2583 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $140.00 This lustrous wheat gold example shows signs of a light wiping in the past. 2584 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $110.00 Frosty mint lustre blankets this example, but there are several digs on either side of the coin. 2585 1853 EF $150.00 Extremely Fine. Some lustre still remains despite the coin being lightly cleaned. A decent strike gives this coin good eye appeal. 2586 1853 EF $70.00 Extremely Fine. Both obverse and reverse display evidence of prior jewelry use. 2587 1854 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $160.00 A pleasing honey gold example with a good deal of silky mint bloom. 2588 1854 CH EF $100.00 Choice Extremely Fine with excellent detail and good color. This frosty, rich orange-golden specimen reveals some very light hairlines beneath the toning on the obverse. 2591 1856 Slant 5 AU $130.00 About Uncirculated. Delicate coppery toning highlights underlying mint frost. There are a few very tiny rim marks that hardly justify mention, and do not affect the appeal of this coin. 2592 1860'S' AU $360.00 About Uncirculated or better in terms of wear. Honey gold surfaces highlight this gently cleaned coin. Only 13,000 minted. PCI EF45 Lightly Cleaned. 2593 1861 EF $110.00 Extremely Fine. Pale wheat gold surfaces retain some lustre but there are a few marks possibly from use as jewelry. 2594 1862 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $180.00 Although fully detailed, this coin has been cleaned. ANACS UNC DETAILS NET AU50 CLEANED. 2595 1862 CH AU $135.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Honey gold surfaces display a good deal of silky mint lustre. 2596 1873 Closed 3 AU $700.00 About Uncirculated. A scarce issue with a mere 1,800 struck. Traces of mint lustre are apparent among lightly worn surfaces. SEGS AU53. 2597 1874 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $160.00 This lustrous example would surely grade higher if not for a minor scrape at the face. 2598 1887 AU $170.00 About Uncirculated.
