Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 2065 1847 VF $120.00 Very Fine. Surfaces show a number of old contact marks and signs of past cleaning. Edges bear traces of jewelry mounting. 2066 1849'C' VF $1,150.00 Very Fine. This evenly circulated relic of the Charlotte mint exhibits a light greenish-gold tone, some light rim bruises and other circulation marks. Well struck and boasting a hint of lustre in the most protected areas of the devices, this specimen was once lightly cleaned. Just 64,823 pieces were coined of this coveted date. 2067 1852 AU $140.00 About Uncirculated. Well struck with light yellow-gold toning. An unretained lamination on the lower reverse affects the 'U' of UNITED and the of 'FI' of FIVE. The letters are barely visible and the area is depressed below the plane of the coin's surface. 2068 1854'C' Weak 'C.' AU $1,800.00 About Uncirculated and virtually Choice. This variety of the Branch Mint coinage shows a virtually invisible Charlotte mintmark under the eagle. This coin has seen relatively light circulation, but its partly lustrous surfaces bear a number of minute tics. Dannreuther-Garrett record 42 auction appearances, most in lower grades. Here is a very satisfying example of this important Charlotte date....  more 2069 1865'S' EF $1,000.00 Extremely Fine or better in wear and detail. Actual circulation is relatively light, but the coin has been cleaned at one time and examination reveals traces of an old mount on the edge at 12:45. Despite this coin's one time jewelry use, it is a very respectable survivor of a very rare issue that was minted to just 27,612 pieces. 2070 1868'S' AU $1,200.00 About Uncirculated or thereabouts. Wear is not overwhelming but the coin was very gently wiped in the past. Surfaces are orange-gold, with lustre glowing in the protected areas in and around the devices of this 1860's San Francisco rarity. A mere 52,000 pieces were coined of this coveted date. 2071 1880 EF $115.00 Extremely Fine. Dark russet follows the rims, the left obverse field shows some marks. 2072 1881 AU $115.00 About Uncirculated. This coin displays light circulation with muted color and faint lines recalling a cleaning long ago. 2073 1881 AU $122.00 About Uncirculated. Actual wear is minimal, lustre in the protected areas shows a hint of tantalizing copper-red hue. 2074 1881 EF $122.00 Extremely Fine. Some circulation is visible on high points, delicate red-gold circles the rims. 2075 1881 EF $122.00 Extremely Fine. Lustre surrounds the reliefs, a glass finds some old, light scratches on Liberty's face. 2076 1881'S' AU $130.00 About Uncirculated. Wear is minimal, but a thin obverse field scratch and reverse rim bruise are noted for accuracy. 2077 1882 AU $123.00 About Uncirculated or nearly so. Yellow-gold lustre outlines the reliefs, fields are free of distracting marks. 2078 1882 EF to AU $121.00 Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated. A second lightly circulated example with a reverse rim scrape. 2079 1886'S' EF $123.00 Extremely Fine. Glowing amber lustre defines the eye appeal of this charming San Francisco mint specimen. 2080 1893 AU $126.00 About Uncirculated. Lustrous and near Mint State, this charming copper-gold specimen would make a fine specimen for a high grade circulated type set. 2081 1893 AU $120.00 About Uncirculated or thereabouts. Bright yellow gold, some surface roughness can be found in the left obverse field. 2082 1898 EF to AU $120.00 Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated. Deep gold-russet circles the reliefs, an old scuff is seen in the left obverse field. 2083 1898'S' EF $111.00 Extremely Fine in terms of actual circulation, lightly cleaned at some time. 2084 1899 AU $140.00 About Uncirculated. Glowing orange-gold mint lustre is the defining characteristic of this Philly mint specimen. 2085 1899 AU $110.00 About Uncirculated. Largely lustrous surfaces add quality, a rim pinch is seen at 11:00. 2086 1900 CH AU $160.00 Choice About Uncirculated, nearly Mint State. Just a wisp of wear can be found on this lustrous light golden toned coin. 2087 1901'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $190.00 - or finer. Closed, fat '6' shows traces of another digit or another '6' in its loop. Much lustre adds to this coin's appeal. 2093 1907 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $162.00 Light bagmarks in the fields intermingled with frosty yellow-gold mint frost define this final year of issue of the Liberty type. 2094 1907 AU $130.00 About Uncirculated.
