Knob 9, Heraldic Eagle F $401.00 Fine in terms of wear, holed at 12:00. Detail is generally satisfying, with matte gray-gold toning and an obverse arc of ebony at star 11 defining this tantalizing example of a very rare variety. 2170 1799 B.6 (R-3). Perfect 'U.' F $950.00 Fine, with the detail and appeal of higher grade. Generally smooth fields show a touch of delicate pale gray. Devices are bold, with a dig visible below UNITED that hallmarks this reverse. 2171 1799 B.7, Die state II. CH VF $1,265.00 Choice Very Fine in terms of wear but there are some nicks on the upper obverse and some scrapes in the center of the reverse. The coin has a medium blue and gray tone and has a decent strike for the variety. 2172 1799 B.21 (R-3). Points Star 2 Doubled AG $325.00 About Good. A somewhat convex planchet resulted in weakness at the centers, sharpness of Good at the stars, date and legends. Dark blue-black toning adds fascination. 2173 1803 B.1. Small 3 F $1,225.00 The details of a strong Fine but the coin has been repaired. The obverse shows signs of being heated and then the right side smoothed to remove some scratches. The fields have been cleaned and now show pale gray toning. The details are decent for a coin of this grade. NCS FINE Details, Obverse Repaired, Improperly Cleaned. Liberty Seated Silver Dollars Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 2174 1846 VF $260.00 A strong Very Fine but the coin has been gently cleaned long ago and now has a pale gray patina with some light gold overtones. A few scattered marks but none are too serious. A tiny rim tic at 6:00 on the obverse. Some lustre still remains, giving this coin a decent appearance. 2175 1853 CH AU $775.00 Choice About Uncirculated in terms of wear but the coin has been lightly cleaned, leaving a pale gray patina over nicely reflective surfaces. The strike is strong which adds further to this coin's appearance. A decent coin despite the cleaning. 2176 1859'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,100.00 A satiny coin with nice mint bloom. The surfaces exhibit some moderate abrasion which is reminiscent of the coins that were stored in Treasury bags until the early 1960's and then released to the public. The strike is quite nice with just the head detail a bit weak. Overall a very respectable coin for the type collector. 2177 1860'O' CH AU $425.00 Choice About Uncirculated. This forcefully struck New Orleans coin boasts bold detail on both sides, the reverse being close to Mint State. Careful study reveals traces of a very subtle obverse cleaning. 2178 1863 AU $900.00 About Uncirculated. This boldly lustrous coin's actual circulation is minimal and its strike is delightfully sharp. Close examination reveals some old obverse field scratches. 2179 1867 Brilliant Proof BR PF $2,000.00 Well struck with light iridescent toning about the edge. The coin has a moderate amount of hairlines but has strong eye appeal nevertheless with deeply reflective fields and nicely contrasting devices. A wonderful example for the budget-minded collector. 2180 1870 CH AU $675.00 Choice About Uncirculated, with the frosty silver-white reflective surfaces of a higher grade. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $380.00 This near-Gem's lightly frosted devices stand out from glittering fields. The eagle's tailfeathers are amazingly sharp and full at the tips. 2186 1878 Strong Variety. 7/8 Tailfeathers. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $91.00 - nearly Choice. Wonderful mint lustre over well struck surfaces. The cheek has some minor marks but otherwise this date has decent visual appeal. NGC MS62. 2187 1878 Weak Variety. 7/8 Tailfeathers. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $140.00 Substantial flashing silver lustre includes a scattering of obverse bagmarks. NGC MS63. 2189 1878'CC' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $235.00 Frosty white surfaces are augmented by a ring of golden toning at the rims. 2190 1878'CC' CH AU $120.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Pale silver surfaces show just a touch of friction and a wealth of frosty lustre. 2191 1878'CC' EF $120.00 Extremely Fine.
