1700 1793 Wreath. S.6. Sprung Die PR-1 $625.00

Poor-1. The obverse shows the outline of Miss Liberty and the flower sprig and not much else. The reverse is completely gone with no detail visible. An inexpensive example of this early Large Cent.
1701 1793 Wreath. S.9. Vine & Bars Edge F-12 $680.00

Fine-12 in terms of wear. Dark ebony brown surfaces exhibit some golden-tan toning at the high points of the devices and in the fields. Date is a bit weak, the final digit missing as a result of a planchet flaw or other disfigurement at the rim at the lower obverse. Here is a coin that would make a fine place holder for this type or variety in one's collection.
1702 1793 S.10 (R-4). Wreath. Vine & Bars Edge F-12 $950.00
1793 S.10 (R-4). Wreath. Vine & Bars Edge. Fine-12 or better from the actual standpoint of wear. However,...
Fine-12 or better from the actual standpoint of wear. However, fields and devices exhibit a uniform, pebbly quality that is either the result of porosity or some attempt to enhance this coin's surfaces. What appears like a lamination has peeled back from the rim at 2:00 on the obverse and become a part of Miss Liberty's forehead. Date and sprig above date are strong, making this a fine specimen...  more

1703 1794 S.30 VF-30 $550.00

Very Fine-30 or better in terms of wear. Dark brown surfaces range from hard and glossy to porous, with a decent overall appearance. Designs, date and legends are full and well-defined, interrupted only by some ancient scuffs on the obverse.
1704 1794 S.59 VF-30 $675.00
1794 S.59. Very Fine-30. This example is medium brown with light to moderate porosity. Despite the...
Very Fine-30. This example is medium brown with light to moderate porosity. Despite the imperfect surfaces, the overall eye appeal is quite pleasing for an early copper.
1705 1794 S.62 (R-4+) F-15 $500.00
1794 S.62 (R-4+). Fine-15. Steely-brown surfaces exhibit lighter tan highlights on this evenly worn,...
Fine-15. Steely-brown surfaces exhibit lighter tan highlights on this evenly worn, ever so slightly porous coin. A slight convexity in the flan has focused wear on the central reverse, causing the 'ENT' of CENT to fade away. Struck from the die state with the large die break at the rim behind Miss Liberty's head. Here is a significant specimen of this very scarce Sheldon variety.
1706 1794 S.63. Fallen 4 VF-20 $500.00

Very Fine-20. This chestnut brown example was burnished long ago to reduce some moderate porosity. A minor error is noted at the edge; it appears the Castaing machine slipped causing HUNDRED and FOR on the lettered edge to merge into HUNDREDFOR with no space between. An interesting coin.
1707 1794 S.65 VF-25 $360.00
1794 S.65. Very Fine-25. This example has lovely medium chocolate color. The surfaces are grainy,...
Very Fine-25. This example has lovely medium chocolate color. The surfaces are grainy, but evenly so with no deep corrosion. The overall look is quite pleasing.
1708 1795 S.77 F-15 $240.00

Fine-15. Chocolate brown surfaces are hard and glossy. Some details including the first two digits of the date are missing due to die failure, other areas such as the lower reverse show detail that would be expected of a higher grade.
1709 1796 S.88. Reverse of 1795 F-12 $220.00

Fine-12 in terms of wear but the coin suffers from some moderate corrosion. Most details are visible, giving this coin a decent look.

1710 1796 S.103. LIHERTY (R-4+) VF-20 $1,300.00
1796 S.103. LIHERTY (R-4+). Very Fine-20. Central devices are boldly detailed, as is the error spelling...
Very Fine-20. Central devices are boldly detailed, as is the error spelling 'LIHERTY', the result of an upside down 'B' being corrected with a right side up 'B' in LIBERTY. Surfaces are generally granular, with a patch of corrosion noted in front of Miss Liberty's profile. Here is an acceptable survivor of this very scarce variety.
1711 1796 S.103 (R-4) LIHERTY. VG-10 $675.00

Very Good-10. Cocoa brown surfaces show light, even granularity but not to an extant that it is distracting. Some areas of striking weakness are noted, but the ever important LIHERTY die blunder is bold.
1712 1797 S.120b. Gripped Edge VF-20 $260.00

Very Fine-20. Glossy surfaces reveal light even granularity. The coin is well struck and well centered for a pleasing appearance.
1713 1797 S.134 (R-4). Reverse of 1797. With Stems EF-40 $675.00

Extremely Fine-40 in terms of wear. Surfaces are an even, dark brown shade and exhibit a touch of gloss on both sides. There are, however, some intermittent pits and areas of roughness on both sides, and the planchet exhibits a slight wave. Nevertheless, here is a well-detailed example of a scarce Sheldon variety.
1714 1797 S.134 (R-4) VF-20 $240.00
1797 S.134 (R-4). Very Fine-20. This interesting example shows various medium brown hues. The blank...
Very Fine-20. This interesting example shows various medium brown hues. The blank copper strip was misfed into the planchet cutter leaving a crescent shaped impression near 25% off center; an intriguing insight into the early days of the minting process. The surfaces are grainy and may have been lightly burnished long ago but are quite glossy and pleasant appearing.
1715 1797 S.138. Reverse of 1797. With Stems EF-45 $180.00

Extremely Fine-45 or better in strict terms of wear. Dark ebony brown surfaces are hard and glossy, with some light corrosion and porosity noted in the fields. A sharp, ancient cut is noted across Miss Liberty's throat. Here is a well-detailed coin for the collector who prefers abundant design details to surface quality.
1716 1797 S.140 VF-35 $450.00
1797 S.140. Very Fine-35. Deep brown surfaces have a wonderfully reflective sheen. A few pin pricks...
Very Fine-35. Deep brown surfaces have a wonderfully reflective sheen. A few pin pricks and light granularity are found with the aid of magnification. The overall eye appeal is quite good.
1717 1798 S.147 (R-5). Plain Edge F-12 $400.00
1798 S.147 (R-5). Plain Edge. Fine-12. Medium brown devices are flanked by fields that are a trifle...
Fine-12. Medium brown devices are flanked by fields that are a trifle darker. The surfaces show a trace of microscopic granularity but appear quite smooth overall. The strike shows some weakness at the upper left obverse and the corresponding left reverse, but the other areas are quite bold. This coin is quite attractive for the grade and approaches Condition Census for this scarce variety.
1718 1798 S.157. Plain Edge VF-20 $150.00

Very Fine-20. A bold strike has imparted strong details, but the surfaces do show moderate porosity.
1719 1798 S.160 (R-4). Plain Edge F-15 $260.00

Fine-15. Medium chocolate brown surfaces show some apple green highlights at the obverse and some deep brown color and light deposits at the reverse devices. The surfaces are lightly granular, but have a lovely gloss to them.
1720 1798 S.163 (R-4) F-12 $120.00

Fine-12. This well centered coin has even granularity. A scratch at the date and a few at the central reverse are noted for accuracy. Despite its flaws, here is a presentable example of a scarcer variety.
1721 1798 S.174 F-15 $135.00

Fine-15. Smooth surfaces display attractive chocolate brown color. Some waxy deposits are noted on the reverse.
1722 1798 S.179 VF-30 $220.00

Very Fine-30. Chocolate brown surfaces are smooth and hard. A few old, toned over hairlines are noted for accuracy.
1723 1798 S.179 VF-30 $200.00

Very Fine-30. The general appearance of this coin is smooth and glossy, but there are some areas of shallow verdigris.
1724 1798 S.181 (R-3) VF-35 $450.00

Very Fine-35. This gently worn example has wonderfully smooth, hard surfaces. The color is a touch light from a gentle cleaning long ago.
1725 1798 S.184 VF-35 $180.00

Very Fine-35. Here is a well struck example that shows some roughness and minor pitting. There is a wealth of detail and the eye appeal is quite acceptable.
1726 1798 S.187 VF-30 $325.00

Very Fine-30. This grayish brown example has attractive, smooth, hard surfaces. A dull contact mark in the field below Liberty's eye is noted for accuracy.
1727 1799 S.189. Normal Date F-15 $2,000.00
1799 S.189. Normal Date. Fine-15 or better details. Here is an example of this key date that has lovely...
Fine-15 or better details. Here is an example of this key date that has lovely chocolate brown color. The reverse is quite pleasing and is mostly smooth with just a few small patches of roughness. The obverse is more typical for the date with heavy pitting, mostly at the lower half of the coin. The date is quite clear with the '99' being exceptionally bold. All things considered, this...  more
1728 1800/179 S.193 (R-4). Horns on 8 VF-20 $160.00

Very Fine-20. Medium brown surfaces are hard and smooth. Some light deposits and a contact mark at the cheek are noted, but the overdate and ''horns'' are quite bold.
1729 1800/79 S.196 VG-10 $160.00

Good-6 in terms of wear but the coin shows uniform porosity on both sides. A couple of rim nicks are present but most major detail is present; 1/2¢. 1809 Br.6, C.6. Very Good-10. An interesting example with the reverse rotated 270 degrees. The coin is currently brown but some rainbow undertones suggest a past cleaning.
