Deep gray-brown toning cover much of the surface. 1465 1799 B.18. BB-154. Die State I. Normal Date CH VF $1,800.00 Choice Very Fine. The B-18 is one of the rarest varieties for the date, Bowers estimated less than 65 examples exist. The variety is nearly always found with a heavy reverse die crack between the 'E' and 'D' through the left wing and into the top of the shield. This interesting Dollar was long in active circulation. A slightly convex planchet resulted in disproportionate wear at the centers but this lightly toned, silvery coin is otherwise free of special problems. This first year of issue Seated Liberty Dollar has typical contact restricted to the highest points. Some mild graffiti is visible at the upper right obverse. Both surfaces are lightly toned at the borders. 1468 1841 AU $280.00 About Uncirculated. This specimen shows very little actual wear but has been subject to an unfortunate cleaning. A small rim bump is found near 10:00 on the obverse and can also be seen from the reverse. An affordable example that displays a wealth of detail. ANACS AU details Net EF40 Rim Damaged- Cleaned. 1469 1842 VF $220.00 Strong Very Fine or better. Ebony toning occupies the fields, silver reliefs offer a delightful contrast. A tiny edge tic or two are noted. 1470 1842 VF $300.00 Another. Very Fine. Wear is uncomplicated with gray-gold toning. A couple of rim bruises appear on either side. 1471 1846 EF $280.00 Extremely Fine or better. Boldly detailed devices, smooth fields show subtle hints of a past cleaning. 1472 1870 Brilliant Proof BR PF $1,600.00 Marvelously squared wire rims enclose subtly glowing mirror fields and meticulous devices that are virtually medallic in their crisp quality. Although 1,000 Proofs are reported for 1870, the number of surviving examples is noticeably less. Pale rose and orange-gold toning define this lightly reflective specimen. 1473 1871 EF $300.00 Extremely Fine. Some lustre remains around the devices, red-gold toning and a few small marks define this coin's surfaces. ANACS Cache EF40. 1474 1872 AU $400.00 About Uncirculated or thereabouts. Wear on high points, some lustre in protected areas define this coin. A glass finds gentle filing on the obverse rim. 1475 1872 G to VG $130.00 Good to Very Good. A past cleaning makes this coin perfect for the budget minded collector. ANACS AU details Net EF40 Cleaned. 1477 1874'S' Large 'S' Mintmark. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $275.00 Here is a semi-reflective example, the obverse of which enjoys claims to the Choice category. There is, however, a small reverse stain just above the eagle's beak that has been partially removed in an improper manner. 1478 1874'S' AU $130.00 About Uncirculated in terms of wear. This coin is flashy pale white as the result of a past cleaning. The details are sharp, but may have been mechanically enhanced in areas. An affordable representation of the type. ANACS AU details Net VF30 Re-engraved- Cleaned. 1479 1875'S' CH EF $215.00 Choice Extremely Fine. An attractive, problem-free example. Pearl gray surfaces adorn lightly worn central devices. 1480 1875'S' EF $190.00 Extremely Fine. This lightly circulated example shows a minor rim disturbance to the right of the date. The coin shows signs of a past cleaning; 1876'S' Very Fine. Here is a bright white example that is very reflective as the result of a cleaning. 2 pieces. 1481 1875'S' VF $120.00 Very Fine or better. Normal circulation is free of unusual problems, some diffused gold toning outlines the reliefs. 1482 1876 CH AU $280.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Tawny red-gold shifts to light russet around the crisply defined reliefs on this Centennial year coin. PCGS AU55. 1483 1876 F to VF $130.00 Another. Fine to Very Fine. Light steel gray toning. About a dozen or so Chinese Chop Marks are interspersed throughout the surfaces. The mintmark is not know for sure since a chopmark covers that area. 1484 1877 AU $360.00 Very Fine. This smooth pale gray coin was cleaned in the past; 1877'S' About Uncirculated. This pale silver coin has a rim bump near 3:00 and some hairlines from a past cleaning. Much detail remains; 1878'S' Extremely Fine. Hints of golden toning are found near the rims, some hairlines from a past wiping can be located. 3 pieces. 1485 1877'S' AU $200.00 About Uncirculated. Very sharply struck and generally lustrous. A glass reveals hairlines recalling a past cleaning. 1486 1877'S' CH EF $135.00 Another. Choice Extremely Fine. Much lustre surrounds the devices, stars and lettering, there are a very few minor marks discoverable with a glass. PCGS XF45. 1487 1877'S' EF $200.00 Extremely Fine; 1878'S' Very Fine, cleaned. The first coin's rims show extensive filing, the second has a toning dot behind Liberty's head. 2 pieces. 1488 1878'S' CH AU $240.00 Choice About Uncirculated, virtually Mint State. A meticulous strike is laved in light steel and glowing rose for bold visual appeal. ANACS Cache AU58. 1489 1878'S' AU $190.00 Another. About Uncirculated. Sharply struck devices boast full detail, much muted lustre enriches the lightly hairlined surfaces. 1490 1878'S' CH EF $130.00 A third. Choice Extremely Fine.
